Untitled: For a Friend

A dear friend's dream is to be able to publish her own book - a compilation of inspirational stories from different women in all walks of life. And as a supportive sister (ehem!), of course, I volunteered to contribute. But little did I know that writing can be so challenging! It took me months since I committed to submit my article, and here I am, just starting to write.

I finished refining the first few paragraphs tonight. Yey! It was more of a "recycled" writeup, dressed in a different way -> thanks to one of my previous life testimony in one retreat.

Sharing with you an excerpt. If you wanna read the whole story, buy my friend's book.

XoXo

----------

I am Klarisse.

I am the eldest of three siblings.

I am the Atchie (Ate) of all.

I am a Human Resource person by profession.

I am working on my way to be an HR Consultant.

I am a Wedding Coordinator.

I am a Church servant of The Feast, a Catholic weekly prayer gathering of the Light of Jesus Family.

I have different roles in life. My schedule may be one of the craziest you can ever see, but whenever people would need me, I make it a point to create time for them. As the saying goes, you don't manage your time, instead, you create time for people you love. How can I say no to others when God has always said YES to me?

Way back 2011, I said YES to the marriage proposal of my then boyfriend for twelve years. You read it right: a dozen long years. We were more than a decade! We were teenage sweethearts. Think about Bobby Andrews and Angelu de Leon from TGIS, John Lloyd Cruz and Kaye Abad from Tabing Ilog, and Carlo Aquino and Angelica Panganiban from G-Mik. We belonged to this lineup of perfect pairs of lovers. He was my confidante, he was my rock. We were churchmates, we had the approval of our families, and our relationship was as solid as you could ever imagine.

Just like a lot of women my age during that time, the "perfect moment" that I have longed for happened right before my eyes. My prince charming, my soon-to-be husband, the future dad of my kids, came right there in front of my eyes. He knelt down on one knee, held my hand, and took out a cutesy little box in his right pocket. As he opened the box, a sparkling diamond ring popped out, and while flashing the sincerest smile that can make any woman fall in love with him, he perfectly mentioned the words which made every lady on earth envy me: “Klarisse, I want you to be the future mother of my kids…. I want you to be my wife…. Will you marry me?” He swept me off my feet. How can I say no? He made me feel like the prettiest person in the whole universe! Facebook Status changed. From “In-a-Relationship” to “Engaged”. It was official. We were getting married and we were madly in love.

Preparing for your wedding can really be fun and exciting. We attended wedding fairs, scouted huge discounts, and I even became an active member of online wedding forums. We researched for the best wedding deals left and right and we started booking some suppliers. He was happy. I was happy. We were happy. It was a fairy tale that came into reality.

But, just like in most fairy tales, a wicked witch stole my prince from me...
